Missing VST plugins from 6.1 Install

If you upgrade from 6.0 to 6.1, two plugins that exist in 6.0 are not replaced during the 6.1 installation. If you are a 6.0 owner, the two files listed below should be added to your Edition6x/Plugins/SystemAudio/ folder:

Grungelizer.dll
Chorus.dll

Additional VST plugins

There are additional plugins available - we just don't know that much about them yet.  One suggestion is to do a Google search for "vst filter" or vst plugin" and see what you get.  Many are free and as we learn more about them, we will post them here.

LewS You can download a graphically represented multiband equalizer from here for free. There are also some other neat free VST plugins here.

Here's one to consider. I have used several off this page successfully with WaveLab.

Everybody, sorry i didn't make my self-set deadline on Thursday for posting my findings on VST plugins, but slight change of plan.

First i'll put a load of URL's here so anyone interested can go off and find/download various freeware plugins i've found already.
Then later ( again hopefully today but i won't promise this time ! ) when i've finally sorted out the categories and descriptions, i'll post the list of all those from these sites that i've found work with/in LE6.

So, first the URL's

THE SITE WHERE YOU CAN FIND INFO ON AND LINKS TO JUST ABOUT ALL OF THE VST PLUGS THAT EXIST IS;
http://www.kvr-vst.com/get.php

A COUPLE OF OTHERS GIVING LINKS TO INDIVIDUAL PLUGIN SITES ARE;

And then some individual producers sites ( most already linked to from pages above ) but note these aren't all freeware plugins on the following pages;

Remember that VST instruments won't work in LE but many VST filters should.

As a workaround I still use Studio 9 for VST filters. There are lots of filters on the net. www.virtualdub.com has a bunch of studio 9 filters. i used their install.exe and it perfectly installed the filters to studio. I have some others that i can't remember where i acquired but studio has alaways been pretty easy for me to get filters to work with. i just fuse, work em over in studio and reimport when I need em..............might try it if you have studio.

To stephenlnoe

I'm afraid you're contradicting exactly what my point was; standard VST plugins installed with Cubase do NOT all work in LE6. In fact since some of them don't work with (e.g. ) Wavelab outside the application they were installed with, then this isn't surprising.
However i'll admit this does depend on which 'Cubase' you're talking about. If by this you mean old versions of Cubase, Cubase Score, Cubase VST etc., then you're probaby right about all or most of those plugins working in LE6, i can't verify this myself. But i'm talking about CURRENT versions of Cubase ( SE, SL, SX ), and Nuendo and Wavelab, and the success rate here for using their plugins in each other and with other non-Steinberg apps is far lower.
My most recent experience is with a bundled copy of Cubase LE ( kind of very cut-down SX ) i got with the Firepod. Absolutely NONE of the installed standard plugins for Cubase LE will work in LE6.

This may be deliberate 'hobbling' of Steinberg bundled plugins so that they don't work in other apps, but as i said earlier, results i've had so far are a bit hit-and-miss with freeware VST plugins and some commercial demos, which of course aren't 'tied' to a particular host application, and so mostly we're talking about severe limitations in the VST implementation/handling in LE6.
Even some of those that do load and work are EXTREMELY sluggish in responding onscreen to adjustments of the controls, and this seems to bear no relation to the actual 'complexity' or CPU load of the plugins concerned, which respond immediately when opened in Cubase. Clearly some work has yet to be done on the VST section of LE6 before the experience of adding and adjusting audio effects/treatments is a pleasant and freeze/crash-free one.

No, I have not forgotten about this. It is impossible to forget about this. Moreover, we expect Nuendo 3 release with the big hope, and itsseamless integration with LE6.

But, anyway, even considering that fact that Steinberg is Pinnacle's audio division right now, I'm still interesting in two simple questions:

1. Why Nuendo's VST plug-ins doesn't work with LE6
2. Why both TC Native and Waves VST sets doesn't also work with LE6.

We speak about standards support here, as I can see LE6 doesn't support VST standard in an explicit form.
