Review of Paul Mitton’s Mind Meld for Liquid Edition 6
(including  "What’s New in Liquid Edition 6.1 and Avid 7")

by Tim Armagost
March 2006

Link to Mind Meld

These tutorials are well suited for the beginner through seasoned LE editor!  Paul presents his tutorials in a very personal and friendly manner, talking to you from the DVD.  It is Paul himself doing the training in his rich and inviting voice.  These DVDs cover the Liquid Edition software thoroughly without being boring.

Over 27 hours of training, for under a hundred bux !

What you can expect:

Liquid Edition 6 Mind Meld, disk 1

Just plop the Liquid Edition 6 (disk 1) DVD into your computer’s DVD drive and in a few seconds a screen pops up in much the same colors as the gray Liquid Edition interface.  The first screen has menu buttons that correspond to the different training tutorials.  For example, you will find menu buttons labeled ‘Soft Install’, ‘GUI’, ‘System Settings’…all the way through ‘Pro Editing A’, Pro editing B’ and ‘SFX Plus’.

This interface makes it very easy to find just the section you need to get your question answered.  You can start at the beginning and enjoy straight through training or you can easily skip around.  Keep your eye out for Granny’s tips!

Liquid Edition 6 Mind Meld, Disk 2

Again we find the nice subtle screen with many menu buttons, but this disk has sections titled ‘Mind Meld’, ‘Grandma’s Tips’ and ‘What’s New’.  It is handy to be able to refer to the ‘What’s New’ section and get up to speed. You will find tutorials on ‘Color Correction’, ‘Dynamic Warp’ and ‘Linear Warp’, just to mention a few.  Again we have the friendly, captivating Paul Mitton training style…did I mention that you should keep an eye out for Grandma’s Tips?

The What’s New in Liquid Edition 6.1 and Avid 7 disk is in a similar format as the first two, but this DVD has many more menu buttons and is a compendium of information adding to your understanding of the Liquid Edition 6.1  software.  You will also find how to install and use Liquid 7, the latest version of Liquid Edition software.

Who’s it for?

From rank beginner to a seasoned editor, you will find these tutorials of value!  The easy style that Paul has will guide you through all the nuances of the software, and 'Granny’s Tips' will suggest some easy ways to advance your editing skills and make your videos stand out from the crowd!
